Brief job description





We are looking for an Instrumentation Design Manager to assist the design office teams and project managers.











Key responsibilities and main tasks:





The work will be done independently, under the responsibility of the project manager and in interface with the other disciplines within the framework of preliminary and detailed design studies and detailed studies.


The activities and work to be carried out will include, but are not limited to:


•            Management


o            Management of hours allocated to the instrumentation discipline within the framework of the project


o            Ensure compliance with the document issuance schedule


o            Management of a team of experienced instrumentalists and designers


o            Coordination of activities with the Digital Systems Specialist


o            Reporting to the Project Manager  


o            Interfaces - coordination inter-disciplines


o            Participation in internal or customer meetings


•            Coordination


o Participation in P&ID reviews, selection of instrumentation technologies (Analysis, flowmetering, measurement of levels, temperatures, pressures, ...), 


o            Participation in plans of arrangement and 3D modeling reviews,


o            Participation in safety reviews (HAZOP) and safety documents (Flowchart or C&E Matrix),


With the help of his team (Supervision and validation of documents):


•            Writing the documentation:


o            General Instrumentation Specifications,


o            Instrument specifications or data sheets (pressures, temperatures and wells, delta-P, levels, flow meters, analyzers, valve motorization, control valves, etc.),


Requisitions and data sheets for inspection.


•            Calculations 


•            o            Pre-calculations (control valves, thermowells, orifice plates, etc.),  


•            o            Dimensioning of instrumentation cables.


•            Lists


o            List of instruments, 


•            o            I/OS lists,


•            o            List of cables,


o            List of small instrumentation equipment (Bulk MTO with tubings, fittings, cable glands, etc.).


o            Participation in power assessments.


•            Schematics / Plans


•            o            Schémas d’interconnections,


•            o            Junction box plans,


o            Loop diagrams (made jointly with the system specialist),


o            Plans d’implantation,


o            Routing plans,


o            Plans of the bulkhead passages (Main Cable Transits),


o            Hook-up Drawings.


•            Seller Tracking


•            o            Analysis of offers and writing of a comparison,


•            o            Management and follow-up of seller documentation,


o            Participation in inspections, verification of certifications, tests (or FATs) (carried out jointly with the inspection department).





The experience shall include:


 


  • Referent for the instrumentation discipline, experience in engineering for offshore and/or onshore Oil & Gas.
  • Knowledge and mastery of the engineering process, content and purpose of deliverables. 
  • Mastery of the contractual technical scope. 
  • Management of a team of engineers and technicians (2 to 3 people)
  • Management of the hours that are allocated and reporting to the Project Manager on the progress
  • Ability to understand and arbitrate the technical issues of the project.
  • Management of interfaces with other disciplines (Processes, Electricity, Piping Valves Vessels,



HVAC, ,..)



  • Safety culture, HSE sensitivity.



The candidate will have to bring the following skills:



  • spoken: English. Proficiency required for written and spoken forms. The of deliverables, reports, meetings can be English or French
  • General knowledge of IEC, IECEx, ATEX, ISO, ISA, ANSI, DIN, ASME, ASME PTC standards

  • Knowledge of the following software is a plus
  • o          InstruCalc,
  • o          Aveva E3D





  • Smart Plan Instrumentation (SPI),
  • o AutoCAD,
  • o Navisworks
