Intermediate /Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Job Description At CIMA+, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Intermediate /Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams on exciting and complex projects, contributing significantly to the field of geotechnical engineering. You will play a key role in shaping our projects and driving success.  Projects will involve the design and rehabilitation of various infrastructure, including roads, buildings, hydraulic structures, slope stability, soil dynamics, and both temporary and permanent retaining structures. You will have the opportunity to work with both public and private sector clients primarily in Ontario, with potential projects in other regions of Canada.  Primary Responsibilities:   Conduct comprehensive geotechnical studies from planning to report writing, including drilling, laboratory testing, as well as design recommendations.  Evaluate geological and geotechnical data to assess the characteristics and behavior of soil and rock masses at construction sites, determining stability, load-bearing capacity, and settlement characteristics.  Inspect and conduct safety assessment and upgrading of concrete and earth dams.  Participate in tunnel and rock wall stability studies, including discontinuity surveys and potential sliding plans using a drone.  Coordinate studies, engineering, field work, subcontractors, and suppliers.  Contribute to the development of detailed geotechnical designs, technical drawings and construction specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.  Prepare bid documents to respond to interdepartmental or public service offers  Collaborate with experienced draftsmen, prepare plans and specifications for earthworks, slope stabilization, bank protection, etc.  Mentor, train, and guide the work of other geotechnical engineers. Qualifications A degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering.  Post-graduate degree is considered an asset.  At least 5 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering, preferably in a consulting environment, with a proven track record of leading complex studies and collaborating on multidisciplinary projects.  Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, or eligibility for registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).  Proficiency in geotechnical software applications for slope stability, drainage, and finite element analysis.
