Internship in the field of statistical modeling of driving scenarios in real traffic using fleet data from series vehicles from August 2024

Tätigkeitsbereich:Forschung & Entwicklung incl. DesignFachabteilung:Data Platform & AnalyticsGesellschaft:Mercedes-Benz AGStandort:Mercedes-Benz Werk Sindelfingen, SindelfingenStartdatum:..4Veröffentlichungsdatum:..4Stellennummer:MERX6Arbeitszeit:Vollzeit Join usAufgabenJoin us in shaping the future of mobility in the field of automated driving! We are laying the foundations for this in our center by integrating the latest technologies and algorithms into our vehicles and off-board systems. An acceptable level of safety for road vehicles requires that there is no unreasonable risk from all hazards associated with the intended automated driving function and its execution. The absence of unreasonable risk resulting from hazardous behaviors associated with functional deficiencies is defined as Safety of Intended Functionality (SOTIF) and is addressed in the ISO standard. Accordingly, the acquisition of real driving data is essential for the verification and validation of systems. As part of this subject area, we offer you the opportunity of an exciting practical assignment. During your internship, you will support the experimental implementation of a method with which in future representative data collected by series vehicles can be modeled into a knowledge-based system that maps the probabilities of occurrence of specific driving scenarios over the population of real traffic and makes them usable. The method includes the functional abstraction and parameterization of the driving events recorded by the sensors, the determination and formal mapping of the parameter distributions and correlations and the automated generation of scenario descriptions for the simulation. Specifically, you will deal with the following tasks, among others: Implementing new functionsMaking improvements, for example for runtime optimizationWriting test casesDebugging QualifikationenDegree in (technical) computer science, electrical engineering, mechatronics, scientific subjects such as physics/mathematics or comparable subject area - very good to good academic performanceGood written and spoken German and English skillsProgramming skills in PythonKnowledge of cluster computing and analyzing large amounts of data with Apache SparkKnowledge in the area of software qualityAbility to work independently Additional information: Further information on the recruitment criteria can be found".Nationals from countries outside the European Economic Area should send their residence/work permit with their application.
