IT Infrastructure Engineer - Networks I Cloud I Security

Job Description

Are you......

3rd Line IT Infrastructure Engineer?

Live in Nottinghamshire?

Love sport, music, comedy?

Want to get into cyber sec and a company that will help you get there?

Read on.....this is the role you've been waiting for!

My client is one of the UK’s best-known and most beloved live events venues, employing hundreds of people across Nottingham and beyond, and entertaining hundreds of thousands of customers each year. They heavily rely on technology to deliver an incredible customer service experience across their venue/stadium sites, online, and at all points of sale/endpoints.

Acting as the deputy to the Head of IT, you will be responsible for project engineering, including the rollout of their cloud and network infrastructure. Alongside this, you will also act as a final escalation point, handling technical issues that other engineers need support with.

All events that take place will require IT infrastructure implementation and support, and because each event is different, this role is incredibly varied and unique. Add in some growth and some really interesting new technology rollouts, and you have one of the most exciting and technically challenging roles around.

But don’t worry, this organization is prepared to build a technical personal development plan around you that will ensure you are always up to date with emerging technologies.

First up is IT security, and specifically, cyber essentials.

This role is going to be heavily focused on cybersecurity. Within your role, you will become the subject matter expert, maybe not right away, but in time. So, if you’re currently an infrastructure engineer who would love to specialize in cybersecurity, this could be the dream role for you.

If you love sports, music, comedy, and events, you’ll be right in the thick of it. There will even be some VIP backstage passes available!

So, what skills are we looking for?

  • 3rd line IT Infrastructure Support Experience - Windows Server, ideally some Azure
  • Top desktop skills, Office 365 deployment at scale, maybe some Azure Intune skills too
  • Networking and firewall knowledge (cisco / watchguard)
  • Security-focused and willingness to invest in your knowledge of cybersecurity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - you’ll represent the department and team with stakeholders
  • Ability to mentor and support more junior team members
  • Project engineering skills - we’ll need you to be organised, work with third parties, and run implementations effectively

If you are working as an IT Engineer within an end-user organization or for an MSP, this role has the potential to improve your IT skills and knowledge, get you into some really significant projects, and also build your experience of leading technology change. You’ll also have the best time, surrounded by the buzz of events.

The role is based onsite in central Nottingham and will involve some out-of-hours work, which you will be able to get back as time off or via overtime and on-call. The thing is, if you love gigs and support, it won’t be a hardship; in fact, it will be a lot of fun!

The salary is circa 45k. We are open to engineers looking for a little more or people who are a little less experienced too. The key thing we’re looking for is energy and a passion for learning, and for working in an environment that is absolutely awesome!

Drop me (Simon Bucknell) a message if you'd like to find out more or apply.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS ROLE IS BASED IN CENTRAL NOTTINGHAM AND WILL REQUIRE SOME WORK OUTSIDE OF NORMAL OFFICE HOURS (FROM TIME TO TIME). ALL WILL BE WITHIN YOUR 37.5-HOUR WORKING WEEK.
