Superintendent - Confidential Mission Critical Project

We are currently looking to add to our team for a confidential, mission-critical project that requires a high level of commitment. The Superintendent will provide direct in-field supervision with sub trades, earthwork, and pipe crews working on all phases of construction, maintenance, and repair operations and programs; all other related work as required. The Superintendent is responsible for maintaining and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under their direction and control. In this role, the Superintendent will direct sub trades and crews in the earthwork and installation of storm sewers, wastewater lines, and water mains.

Ability to travel is required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assessing job priorities and assigning employees to appropriate job tasks.
• Recording a Daily Job Diary in HCSS Heavy Job.
• Understanding required production rates and meeting goals.
• Keeping a set of as-built plans.
• Submitting timecards and trucking reports weekly.
• Ensuring a signed Work Change Directive before completing any additional or changed work from the plans.
• Ensuring employees have the necessary tools and equipment for job safety and production.
• Overseeing work and ensuring it runs smoothly and as per the project plan.
• Giving clear directions to crews to avoid repetitive mistakes or rework.
• Ensuring company rules are followed by the crew.
• Holding a daily safety meeting and recording in a log.
• Acting as leader and supervisor for small crews engaged in road/highway construction, maintenance, and repair projects, and other civil infrastructure projects.
• In the absence of the Superintendent, supervising operations, directing subcontractors, and maintaining material inventory.
• Ensuring all equipment is safe and ready for operation at all times, reporting damage and non-functioning parts to the Superintendent or Shop, ensuring normal servicing of equipment is performed, and assisting the Field Service Technician as necessary. Operating motor vehicles and equipment as necessary for project completion.
• Performing labor incidental to the work of operating equipment, and other laboring tasks when required.
• Regular attendance and punctuality at the workplace are required.

Job Qualifications:

• 5+ years of pipe experience within the public works or heavy civil construction industry.
• Experience reading blueprints.
• Field supervision experience is required.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Required Skills:

• Considerable knowledge of the materials, methods, and techniques relative to Utility, road/highway construction, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of field safety.
• Ability to identify additional work not identified in the plans and specs.
• Ability to read engineering plans and blueprints.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the crew.
• Flexibility: Ability to work in diverse locations, as work locations may change daily.
• Expected Hours: Hours will vary by job, location, and season. Working a night shift may be required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Frequently performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs, including standing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and handling materials, equipment, and tools.
• Lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery, and tools.
• Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.
• Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
• May be exposed to harsh weather conditions.
• May be exposed to loud noise.
