Aquinas Consulting is seeking a JR Controls Engineer job for our client. In this role, you will manage Plant Electrical Engineering responsibilities for local manufacturing facilities. This includes plant power distribution, Lockout Tagout, data acquisition systems, and the electrical components of production lines, standalone equipment, and systems.
JR Controls Engineer Job Responsibilities:
- Program and troubleshoot AC/DC digital/analog drive systems, PLCs, and HMI programs.
- Maintain and update production line PLC programs on a network drive for accessibility.
- Perform electrical design, modifications, instrumentation upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Manage Arc Flash analysis and ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, ANSI, and UL standards.
- Set up and maintain machine data acquisition systems and software for production lines.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical failures, implement upgrades to improve machine uptime and reliability.
- Prepare and update electrical plans, specifications, and schematic drawings using AutoCAD.
- Maintain electrical and mechanical Lockout/Tagout SPIMS following OSHA safety standards.
- Support LEAN Manufacturing tools like 5S+1 and TPM to enhance manufacturing quality and cost efficiency.
- Build strong collaborative relationships with engineering, maintenance, and IT teams to troubleshoot and optimize manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering.
- 2-4 years of plant electrical engineering experience in a factory environment.
- Knowledge of drive systems, industrial controls, calibration methods, and data acquisition systems.
- Familiarity with NEC and OSHA electrical codes and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel; drafting experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, technical leadership abilities, and a self-motivated, detail-oriented mindset
- Ability to work in an office and factory environment, frequently near moving mechanical parts.
- Must pass a "Fit for Duty" physical exam and regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds (occasionally up to 25 pounds).
- Specific vision abilities, including close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, are required.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety boots, glasses, hearing protection, and arc flash clothing is mandatory.
