PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate and apply methods and techniques to develop electrical installation and commissioning procedures implementing standard engineering criteria, using independent judgment with moderated supervision.
  • Review electrical engineering designs, including single-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, connection diagrams, protection schemes, equipment tree line diagrams, load lists, etc.
  • Evaluate Alternate Current and Direct Current designs capable of developing power plant standard equipment installation and commissioning procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of main power plant electrical components, such as power and distribution transformers, control transformers, current transformers, generators, Automatic Voltage Regulators, static frequency converters, generator protection panels, and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of gas turbine control, governor for speed control, main instruments and control loops, and auxiliary gas turbine equipment.
  • Ensures electrical system designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Visits project job sites during pre-construction and construction activities to support project needs.
  • Analyze test results of electrical installations and equipment


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficient experience in:
  • Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Knowledge & application of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and electrical equipment layouts.
  • Understanding engineering discipline drawings and system calculations such as short circuits and load-flow.
  • Ability to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations.
  • Must effectively communicate and work well with others and within a team.
  • Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines.
  • Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
