Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated Junior Electrical Project Engineer to join our data center construction team. This role involves supporting the electrical aspects of data center builds, ensuring all electrical systems are designed, installed, and commissioned according to project specifications and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical engineering and a keen interest in gaining experience in the fast-evolving field of data center construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, planning, and coordination of electrical systems for data center construction projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and emergency power systems.
  • Review electrical plans, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Support the Project Manager and Senior Electrical Engineers in managing project schedules, budgets, and resources, specifically related to electrical work.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and installation of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Participate in site meetings and inspections to monitor the progress of electrical installations and resolve any on-site issues or discrepancies.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project documentation, including RFIs (Requests for Information), change orders, daily reports, and commissioning checklists.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety standards and regulations related to electrical work on the construction site.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and handover processes for electrical systems to ensure they meet design and performance specifications.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving any electrical issues that arise during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Learn and apply company policies, procedures, and best practices for project management and electrical engineering.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in electrical engineering, construction, or project management (internships and co-ops are considered).
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, components, and construction processes.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project) and familiarity with engineering and project management software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Procore) is a plus.
  • A strong desire to learn and grow in electrical engineering and data center construction.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work on a construction site, which may include standing, walking, and working in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
