Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

Carbon60 are currently looking for a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a bespoke laser machine manufacturing company based in Abingdon.

This is a permanent Junior Mechanical Design Engineer position. Not only do this company design and manufacture bespoke laser machines, but they also use similar machines to produce and manufacture products for many other sectors.

Duties include:

• Working with the senior designers to produce 3D mechanical models for special purpose laser machines.
• Designing jigs and fixtures to support in-house systems.
• Creation of 2D manufacturing drawings
• Communication with the shop floor to ensure machines are built to the required standard.
• Build of sub-assemblies
• Fault-finding of machines during commissioning

Person Specifications:

• Experience with 3D CAD design software, ideally Solidworks, but would consider other packages such as Inventor/ Creo etc.
• Keen interest in mechanical systems
• Experience of PDM and MRP systems
• HND or Degree in mechanical engineering.
