Junior Natural Language Processing (NLP) Data Scientist - Neuroscience and Mental Health

Location: Oxford (Hybrid twice a week)

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000

About Us:

My client are a pioneering biotech start-up at the forefront of neuroscience research, dedicated to developing innovative solutions for mental health challenges. You will join a interdisciplinary team collaborating to explore the intricacies of the brain and create data-driven approaches utilising NLP to revolutionize treatments and interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply NLP techniques to analyse and extract insights from a wide range of textual data related to neuroscience, mental health, and related fields.
  • Develop and implement machine learning models and algorithms for sentiment analysis, language modeling, and information extraction in healthcare and research contexts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and analyse diverse datasets from various textual sources to drive research and product development.
  • Optimise data collection processes and data quality to ensure robust NLP analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Participate in the design and execution of experiments and studies, providing data-driven NLP insights to shape research objectives and strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Neuroscience, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in applying NLP techniques to analyse textual data, preferably in a Medical / Neuroscience background
  • Proficient in Python
  • Strong understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and statistical analysis in the context of NLP.
  • Experience with Large Language Models
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based, multidisciplinary environment.
