Laboratory Engineer
It is a truly exciting time to join us here at GKN Automotive in Hungary. We built a brand new manufacturing facility on the outskirts of Miskolc in 2023, which includes assembly and office accommodation. Our Miskolc facility is a key regional facility for the driveline technologies that GKN Automotive supply to our global customer base. We employ hundreds of colleagues from the local community and will continue to develop the site over time. We are seeking a Laboratory Engineer to join our team.Responsible for the knowledge, expertise, validation and execution of physical and/or metallurgical measurement of materials, components, and assemblies during development and manufacture Quality Inspection: Ensure required inspection, instrument programming, test, or calibration in accordance to the defined procedures. Improvement/Innovation: Responsible for the development, maintenance, and improvement of measurement systems and procedures to ensure valid results. Operational Compliance: Define procedures for laboratory activity (measurement, instrument programming, test, calibration, etc) and ensure compliance to external measurement standards and related GKN specific requirements. Audit Compliance Administer: shop floor laboratory activities and provide measurement services. Perform Product Audits to ensure compliance to product specifications at all stages of manufacture. Solutions Analysis: Identify and support the resolution of problems related to the material and/or manufacturing process. Provide technical expertise and insights during design, preproduction, production, and failure analysis. Data Collection and Analysis: Generate internal and external reports for product/process validation, material approval, capability studies, and customer specific issues. Interpret results and document conclusions. Ensure appropriate documented information and test samples are retained as evidence of the results. Operating Machine or Equipment: Operate complex machines and systems, adjusting processes to optimize quality and productivity. Also responsible for generating solutions to complex inefficiencies. Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Responsible for the development, maintenance, and improvement of measurement systems and procedures to ensure valid results. Personal Capability Building: Generate internal and external reports for product/process validation, material approval, capability studies, and customer specific issues. Interpret results and document conclusions. Ensure appropriate documented information and test samples are retained as evidence of the results. Laboratory Development: Lead laboratory continuous improvement activities in physical and/or metallurgical measurements of materials, components, and assemblies. Promote advanced technologies within the lab.
