JobSummary
Plans organizes anddirects work of one or more survey parties engaged in surveyingearths surface to determine precise location and measurements ofpoints elevations lines areas and contours for constructionmapmaking land division titles mining or other purposes: Researchesprevious survey evidence maps deeds physical evidence and otherrecords to obtain data needed forsurveys.
JobDuties
- Reading andunderstanding the package contract documents detailed drawingsspecifications and health and safety measures together with anyassociated updates.
- Perform survey work underthe direction and guidance of the ResidentEngineer.
- Develops new data fromphotogrammetric records. Establish primary horizontal and verticalcontrol points including reference ties for reestablishing thepoints in the field.
- Record all measurementsrod readings and calculations neatly and accurately in field booksas the work progresses.
- Verify the accuracy ofsurvey data including measurements and calculations conducted atsurvey sites.
- Coordinate with the Contractorssurveyor on work priorities andschedules.
- Check all work by completingtraverse closures and bench circuits.
- Reportdiscrepancies or technical problems to the teamleader.
- Perform joint measurements of thecompleted work or payment.
- Check completed workfor conformance to the line and grade required by the project plansin coordination with the Inspector assigned to the item ofwork.
- Perform regular checks of the Contractorssetting out to verify proper execution andaccuracy.
- Maintain equipment in propercondition and perform frequent calibrationchecks.
- Keeps accurate notes records andsketches to describe and certify workperformed.
- Coordinates findings with work ofengineering and architectural personnel clients and others relatedto the project.
- Calculate heights depthsrelative positions property lines and other characteristics ofterrain.
- Prepare or supervise preparation ofall data charts plots maps records and documents related tosurveys
- Prepare and maintain sketches mapsreports and legal descriptions of surveys to describe certify andassume liability for work performed.
- Plan andconduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines elevationsand other geodetic measurements
- Apply andimplement all safety quality controls and quality procedures of thesite.
- Monitor Health and Safety of theconstruction works and report onviolations
SpecificSkillsRequired
- Knowledgeand/or experience in using CAD software and survey software totalstation data collectors and GPSequipment.
- Strong analytic capabilities and theability to work independently.
- Good oral andwritten communication skills.
- Ability tocommunicate logically and clearly with management andstaff.
- Ability to handle the physical aspectsof required field work.
- Commitment to safe workpractices.

- Degreein Civil Engineering or Land Surveying orequivalent.
