Opus People Solutions are working with Cambridgeshire County Council to recruit for an interim Lead Busway Safety Officer who will be responsible for leading all safety-related activities, including risk assessments, incident investigations, and stakeholder engagement. They will also manage the implementation of control measures and ensure regulatory compliance. They will be a key point of contact between contractors and maintenance teams.
The Lead Busway Safety Officer will be responsible for managing the Busway Safety Team comprising of 2 Busway Safety Officers and a Busway Safety Support Officer.

The Lead Busway Safety Officer will actively establish good customer relationships with contractors and maintenance teams, the wider Highways and Transport Service and other interested parties. They will operate from a 'Safety First' platform to deliver a sage and sustainable user and worker experience.

  • Lead and coordinate all safety activities, e.g. risk assessments,
    Inspection of all aspects of the busway operation and its infrastructure, and ensuring that control measure are in place and followed.
  • \n

  • Leading the Busway Safety Officers and work with relevant stake holders in implementing control measures. Managing the Busway Safety Team comprising of 3 Busway Safety Officers and a Busway Safety Technical Support Officer. Ensure the Busway operation remains in full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act
  • \n

  • Lead management of Busway incident reporting through the County Council Health and Safety management system.. To ensure timely and system wide implementation of lessons learnt.
  • \n

  • Apply initiative and technical judgement to facilitate the resolution of safety and associated issues as they arise. Oversee a coordinated, safe systems approach to the Busway.
  • \n

  • Maintain stakeholder relations and influence, as part of a safe systems approach, including with bus operators, emergency services and contractors.
  • \n

  • Monitor Reported defects and ensure timely resolution of safety issues by the Busway Safety Team.
  • \n

  • Track and monitor maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance.
  • \n
