DESCRIPTION
As a Lead Designer in the structural engineering discipline, you will ultimately leverage your in-depth knowledge of structural engineering and construction, strategic thinking, collaborative skills, and strong communication acumen to manage projects through completion and develop construction documents. The responsibilities of this position include:
- Utilize experience and knowledge from coursework and experience in structural design for projects ranging from private residences to K-12 campuses and commercial developments.
- Manage project delivery and utilize staff in a team atmosphere to produce projects from concept through construction including project status monitoring, tracking staff schedules and workload, project deadlines, and completing projects on time and on budget.
- Perform structural calculations and prepare calculation packages for jurisdictional approval.
- Lead project development through standard design processes (schematic design, design development, and construction documents).
- Review construction documents for compliance with applicable codes such as the International Buidling Code (IBC), Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC). ASCE 41, AISC Manual of Steel Construction, ACI-318, and Design Specification for Wood Construction (NDS) to develop construction documents and calculations.
- Utilize construction administration experience to follow projects through construction through review and processing of RFI's, material submittals, and periodic on-site construction observation.
- Collaborate with project partners (in-house disciplines, owners, architects, sub-consultants, etc.)
- Assist and instruct entry level staff on design, technical, and project management best practices.
- Perform project manager duties as required.

MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-year or 5-year bachelor's degree or master's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university required.
- 5 years minimum post graduate structural engineering experience in a consulting firm that provides structural engineering services for low to mid-rise structures.
- EIT is , but no required.
- Critical thinking with engagement skills coupled with detailed execution of concepts in a deadline driven arena.
- Strong, experienced writer.
- Possess strong technical skills and an aptitude for project management.
- Ability to travel (occasionally) as we support projects around the state.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office, and basic element design packages such as Enercalc or StruCalc required.

- Must be able to occasionally lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing a maximum of 50 pounds.
- Able to work in low light conditions, with desk lamps versus overhead lighting.
- Ability to walk throughout a warehouse floor following our internal safety guidelines.
