An excellent opportunity for an experienced Lead EC&I Engineer (Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Lead) has arisen with one of our clients, a world leader within many industries. This role is placed within Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, Petrochemicals industry.

This role can be worked from either our Warrington or Middlesbrough offices and we currently offer a 60:40 working pattern with a minimum of three days in the office each week. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • As a Lead Electrical Controls and Instrumentation engineer you are responsible for the Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) design within multi-discipline engineering, EPCM or EPC projects
  • You will be capable of acting as the technical authority for the EC&I discipline supporting the Engineering Manager in achieving business targets
  • Project predominantly reside in the UK, but you will be expected to carry out projects for Europe and potentially wider areas of the UK business areas
  • These projects will range across the full lifecycle from concept to commissioning, in both green and brownfield applications
  • The projects will vary in complexity and size, delivered for all the major sectors (Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, Petrochemicals and Food)
  • You are responsible to manage and complete the EC&I engineering and design within budget and planning. This includes change control and consistency of the EC&I engineering and design with the other disciplines
  • You are responsible for the quality of the EC&I engineering and design
  • You will participate in internal and external design reviews and you are responsible for the design acceptance by the client
  • Depending on size and complexity you may be Lead Engineer EC&I for one project, or for a portfolio of projects


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Lead Electrical Controls and Instrumentation engineer will have previous experience in multi-discipline projects, in an Engineering / EPCM / EPC company.
  • Experience of acting as a technical authority or line manager for an engineering organisation
  • Deep knowledge of EC&I engineering and design, but you also have a sound knowledge of the other disciplines (Automation, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping and Process)
  • MEng / BEng in EC&I Engineering
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (), TUV Certification
  • Strong understanding of the main standards in relation your discipline including 7671, 7430, 61508, 61511, ATEX, DSEAR, LV and HV
  • Experienced with the production of EC&I specifications, scopes of work, calculations, drawings and schedules.
  • Experienced with the main EC&I design packages including AMTECH, AutoCAD, AutoCAD electrical, Revit, Dialux and all Microsoft office packages.
