Lead Engineer - Instrumentation

The person shall be responsible for the complete design, detailing and proposal engineering of instrumentation /Automation of Oil & Gas projects and substations. The Lead of Instrumentation shall manage the entire design for a project or a set of smaller projects including co-ordination with other disciplines viz., Electrical, Civil and MechanicalLead of Instrumentation shall lead a team of Engineers, Design Engineers and draftsman to manage the Engineering activities within budget, deliver on time and maintaining a high quality of engineering.Key Responsibilities:Estimate manpower resources as per work schedule allocation for project.Monitor and report Instrumentation engineering progress of the projects.Coordination with BU Operation’s Team, BU Contract’s team, Project Manager, Site Team, Clients, Consultants and vendors.Ensure timely submission of Design deliverables.Review and monitoring Equipment and Lot items with respect to ACE, timely reporting to Management for necessary action.Review of the instrumentation drawing/document deliverables before submission to Client for approval.Review of Pre-bid queries, DBR, BOQ & Scope of work for Proposal Engineering & Project Engineering.Propose optimization Ideas during Pre-bid stage to reduce the BOQ cost.Checking design conformity to ISO Quality standards & contract technical specification.Interaction with client for drawing approval & clarification.Interaction with site for clarification on drawing.Interaction With vendors, Clients for giving Manufacturing Clearance for Instrumentation equipment.Review of technical scope & specification for final contract document sign off.Man­-hour monitoring and control.Standardize and adhere to the checklist of the deliverables.Prepare and review technical submissions of proposal including design drawings, layout andinterface points RequirementsReports any deviation from L&T standard specification and practices, concept change report to manager and seek his approval on the solution.Leads/participates in meetings, reviews progress of projects and addresses complex interface/implementation/execution issues to ensure that the project proceeds timely and smoothly.Knowledge on standards API, ISA, ASME, ANSI, NACE, and regulatory authorities certifications CSA, UL, IEC, NFPA, ATEX.Anticipates potential problems and takes preventive actions and independently handles variations in project execution.Independently manages/develops/provides advice on solutions to technical/engineering and related problems by reviewing the issues/data and analysis and evaluating various options/measures using expert knowledge, seasoned experience and precedents and professional references where necessary.Technical Expertise: Should have good experience in Oil & Gas project engineering execution & international standards and exposure to customer like Aramco, ADNOC, KNPC, QP, PDO standards / practices. Should have good experience in detailed engineering and site commissioning activities of field instruments like Transmitters, Switches, Control Valves, On-Off Valves, Pressure Safety Valves, Various type of Instrumentation cables, Junction Boxes, Cable Trays, Cable Gland etc.Should have good expertise in studying and correct P&I Diagram, Process interface checks, Interdisciplinary checks etc.Should have good experience in detailed engineering and site commissioning activities of Various Industrial control and safety systems like DCS, Process PLC, Emergency Shutdown PLC, Fire and Gas PLC etc. Should be aware of various design aspects like SIL study, Hazardous area classification, UPS Load Calculation, Battery sizing calculation, Ingress Protection etc.Should have good experience in various industrial safety, security and communication systems like Fire alarm System, Public Address System, CCTV System, EPABX System, Fiber-Optic Communication etc.Should have good understanding of various communication protocol used in industry like Modbus, TCP/IP, Profibus, Foundation Field Bus, IEC-61850 etc.Develop engineering specification, basis of design, and scope to upgrade obsolete fire & gas detection system, detector layout drawings, cause & effect matrix in compliance with NFPA 72Must be aware of the interface between fire alarm panels and the HVAC, FDAS, deluge valves, security access control systems, and DCS. Should have good experience in engineering deliverables of the Front-End and Detail Engineering Design which include preparation of DBSP, scope of work, technical specifications, developed instrument loop drawings, I/O lists, cabinet design, Shutdown keys, Wiring terminations, orifice plate sizing, Instrument and Detectors selection, JB details, data sheets, calculations/reports.Should have Conversant knowledge in Smart Plant Instrumentation development procedure and implementation standards. Operating Network: Internal: Engineering Heads, Other Section Heads & their team, BU Operations team, Cluster team, Project manager, Site team, BU proposal team, Business Development Team, Safety Team, Quality Team, ISD Team. External: Clients, Consultants and VendorsKey Value DriversProductivity, Timeliness in deliverables, Design Improvements, Quality control, Development of Subordinates, Customer Relations, Cost Optimization, Software Skills Required: Good Skill in MS Office and PDF professional.
