Lead Mechanical Engineer

Wood is recruiting a Lead Mechanical Engineer as part of our strategic growth plan for 2024 and beyond. You will join our Operations business in a pivotal role as we partner with a major player in the Oil & Gas industry on a major brownfields Engineering Service Contract. Based in Perth CBD, this is a permanent role and is available as a full-time / part-time (job share) basis.Wood’s “Operations” APAC West business delivers brownfields engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation, and technical services to the Oil & Gas industry and enjoys long-term partnerships with some of the region’s most prominent producers located in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Southeast Asia.Join us in the heart of Perth's CBD with free 24/7 access to an exclusive on-site gym, superb end-of-trip facilities, coffee machines serving on demand and plenty of spaces to get creative. Suitably qualified with an Engineering degree from a recognised institution, ideally you will have proven experience working in a similar Lead Mechanical / Principal Mechanical Engineering role, supported by 15+ years of relevant design engineering experience within the Oil & Gas production and / or processing industries. In addition, you will: Be recognized as an expert in Mechanical engineering and have knowledge of advanced principles and techniques of engineering, with experience delivering within a challenging and complex multi-discipline environment. Be a leader of people with several years of supervisory experience, capable of engendering an entrepreneurial spirit of cooperation and energising diverse teams to adopt best practices, driving optimal performance with safety at the heart of everything we do. Have a professional level of knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and legislation with an ability to apply relevant technical practices, codes, and standards. Be commercially astute with a “solutions mindset”, skilled in the management of risk during the design process consistent with safety, technical and commercial requirements. Be an articulate communicator (both written and verbal) including well-developed technical report writing and professional presentation skills. Have excellent knowledge of MS Office applications, spreadsheets, and commercial engineering programs. Have a passion for energy security / transition with the vision to navigate energy models of the future, coupled with your proven experience partnering with clients to be more efficient, sustainable, and optimised to deliver the best energy mix in their respective markets. Be customer-focused with an ability to develop trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders while balancing operational excellence to contribute to the competitive advantage of #teamwood.
