Lead Reliability Engineer

Vacancy: Lead Reliability Engineer Location: Royston, UK Job Family: Maintenance As the Lead Reliability Engineer will apply technical knowledge and experience to define the optimum maintenance strategy to ensure the long-term reliability of our 3CR operational assets. This will include, but is not limited to, appropriate scheduling and planning of preventive maintenance interventions in collaboration with production teams, technical support teams, external contractors and internal resource; application of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM); and utilisation of predictive maintenance techniques to inform decisions on intrusive maintenance requirements to support optimum plant availability. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, you will also provide technical guidance on the repair, maintenance, and installation of equipment used throughout the plant to ensure that operational needs are met through the timely and efficient allocation of resources and effective work prioritisation. This role is responsible for ensuring safety and quality standards are met and adhered to, the safety of the team, and to drive a proactive EHS culture focused on zero harm. The 3CR facility will form an integral part of an upper tier COMAH site at Royston and, as such, familiarity, and awareness of ATEX, Functional Safety, EHS critical equipment would be particularly desirable. The work environment will be a combination of office and plant shop-floor based activity, and will also involve regular visits to all production areas, including pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes. Your responsibilities: Responsible for proactively promoting and driving a positive Health & Safety culture and ensuring adherence to JM policies and standards (including HR/EHS/Security) Leading towards a safe culture focused on zero harm. Ensuring that all safe systems of work are built into maintenance planning and scheduling, and that effective checks and controls are in place and maintained including PTW, POWRA, LOTO and PSSR. Reporting to the 3CR Commissioning Production Manager, you will provide technical input to lead the development and implementation of the Maintenance Reliability Strategy. Reviewing OEM recommendations, creating the instructions necessary for the systems to function correctly during Commissioning & Start-up phases, including Maintenance policies, safe systems of work & isolation procedures for plant. Responsible for conducting appraisals and performance reviews where required. Monitor, review and address personnel performance, attendance and sickness issues, maintaining records in accordance with company policy and procedures. Responsible for contractors and adherence to JM standards and performance requirements, escalating any issues as necessary Operations are of mid-level complexity (e.g. higher technology) requiring some more complicated maintenance /repair, coordination of resources an budget awareness & control Requirements for the role: HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical, Control or Instrumentation Knowledge and understanding of Instrumentation & Process Control Understanding of DSEAR / ATEX regulations Experience in managing contractors and service contracts 5+ years of work experience ideally within a chemical or similar high-risk industry. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member to accomplish objectives.
