Job Description:
The Lead Systems Engineer (SE) will supervise a team supporting the requirements, design, development, test, integration, and troubleshooting of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on airborne and simulation lab communication platforms. The Lead SE will be a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project engineering and management. They will manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction on and off-site. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results. The Lead SE will be responsible for a team of engineers during off-site installations.
Essential Functions:
Prepare and present technical results for internal and external program meetings
Document and support design verification tests within lab, ground and flight test environments.
Develop, track and present technical metrics
Evaluate requirements definition, flow-down and traceability
Analyze data from verification test efforts
Generate and maintain schedule for engineering activities
Maintain risk assessment and development of mitigation strategies
Work closely with Project Engineering and Program Management
Support training and development of new team members
Responsible for managing engineering team during travel to offsite facilities for integration
Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship
Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
Exceptional written, oral, and presentation communication skills
Read and interpret technical specifications, engineering blueprints, test procedures, and technical publications
Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Teamcenter, DOORS, etc.
Experience working successfully both independently and in a team environment with the ability to lead teams through an entire annual sustainment cycle
Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft (747, 757, or 737 )
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (Electrical, Systems, Telecommunications, etc.) and a minimum of 9 years’ of applicable experience. Substitution of additional relevant education and experience for stated qualifications may be considered
Willingness to travel
Additional Skills:
Leading projects and or task teams in the integration of systems and or subsystems in airborne and or lab environments
Experience creating system drawings, schematics and or signal interfaces
Current Security+ Certification
Airborne and or operational experience with Mission Communications Systems offboard radios or network communications
Experience working with subcontractors and US Government customers
Knowledge of Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process and implementation of systems that achieved an Authorization to Operate (ATO) on government networks DODAF
Experience working government and/or military program effort bidding process
