About the Role Reporting to the Program Lead, this full-time role based from our South East Regional Office in Bangholme. This role will be working across the Brighton, Bayside, Port Melbourne, Greater Dandenong and Knox. An operational vehicle will be provided. As the Leading Hand you will be responsible for inspecting and ensuring functionality of drainage assets, litter collection, coordination of minor civil maintenance tasks and data collection. As a frontline leader you will have one direct report and largely work in crews of two. You will take care of your own and colleagues Health and Safety through identification and controlling of hazards, and actively contributing to our generative safety culture. The role will use mobile devices, iPad, mobile phone and mapping systems for navigation, checklists, risk assessments and delivering works. Due to the vast geographical area covered this role requires drive long distances independently. For more information please review the Position Description:  Position Description_ Leading Hand Civil.pdf About you: Valid Victorian Driver’s license with a clean driving record and confidence to drive long distances independently. Confident in using a variety of technology, digital devices, apps, Excel and work orders Demonstrated experience and capabilities working with and leading crews in a Civil, NRM and/or Land Management, grass management, construction/maintenance environment. Certificate/ Diploma in Civil/Environmental disciplines or relevant related work experience Other qualifications such as Industry White Card, Chainsaw Ticket, Confined Space Entry, Fall Prevention, Plant Machinery competency, etc. Ability to take responsibility for own role in ensuring the safety of all team members and other personnel on site Sound interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people both within Melbourne Water, external organisations and with the general public Ability to pass a Police Check, Pre-employment medical and AusCheck ** Please Note:  All employees must possess a license to perform any duty which is required to be held under Australian legislation** Why join us: At Melbourne Water, we care about water and all life that springs from it.
