At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic componentsand wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft. The successful applicant will work within the Test Department of GKN Filton providing a Non Destructive Test (NDT) service to the Manufacturing and Design & Engineering functions. How You'll Contribute Approving and supervising PFD Level 2s and trainees Reviewing and approving Procedures, Instruction and Techniques Performing tests on various types of aircraft, and non-aircraft, materials, components and structures Undertaking investigations on and into NDT related problems or issues Auditing of NDT Suppliers, including monitoring their accreditations, Nadcap etc. Reporting on NDT matters Supervising and, if necessary, training all levels of NDT resource Creating, reviewing and approving NDT Procedures, Instructions & Techniques Ensuring all relevant procedures, Instructions and Techniques are complied with Performing NDT Inspections Provide reports on NDT matters as required Communication with Customers and Suppliers as required Compliance with all Health & Safety requirements What You'll Bring The successful applicant must be Qualified to EN 4179 Level 3 in PFD. In addition to this, it would be desirable to possess: Knowledge of material specifications and their associated testing criterion Capable of producing concise reports Conversant with Microsoft Office IT Process Verbally proficient to discuss NDT and related matters with all levels of staff What We'll Offer Once youre on board youll get the following perks and benefits: Competitive salary dependent on experience A 35 hour, Monday - Friday, Day shift, flexible working week (with a half day on Friday!)
