Required Skills

• A minimum of (3) years’ experience as a full charge maintenance mechanic in a plant of similar size
• (1) year experience designing & operating a preventative maintenance program
• (1) year experience participating on a Safety Committee in a food manufacturing environment
• Demonstrate working knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, welding (all types), air compressors, & hydraulics
• Knowledge of plant operations & necessary maintenance
• Capable to maintain & repair automobiles and forklifts
• Demonstrate the knowledge & skills to troubleshoot & repair equipment, including electrical, pneumatics & hydraulics
• Skilled in welding, operation of cutting equipment, machine tools, & electrical testing equipment
• Aptitude to lift, carry, slide, push, or pull up to 75 pounds
• Capacity to bend, twist, squat, kneel, & move freely as a given repair or maintenance situation may require
• Demonstrate sufficient manual dexterity to effectively utilize screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, nuts, bolts, nails & other small hardware & associated tools as needed
• Skilled at climb stairs and ladders, as the plant has multiple mezzanines & ladders to access machinery
• Competent to stand, sit, or walk up to (8) hours per day
• Competent to freely access all areas of the plant & property
• Competent to tolerate heights, dust, noise, & extreme weather conditions including heat, & cold, rain, sleet, hail, & snow
• Skilled to operate a forklift & be certified by a NIOSH or OSHA approved program
• Well organized, able to adhere to schedules & timetables while ensuring emergency maintenance measures are taken promptly & thoroughly
• Experienced to demonstrate physical ability to operate, cutting equipment, machine tools, & electrical testing equipment
• Experise to effectively communicate
• Hold a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, & be insurable
• Certified in First Aid & CPR or become certified within 90 days of hire. Must maintain certification throughout the term of employment.
• Willing to answer emergency maintenance or repair calls any time of a day including weekends & holidays
• Available to work overtime, staggered shift, & swing shift as require

Education - Completion of an accredited high school equivalency program. Minimum (2) years additional training in a technical program including mechanics, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, concrete, welding, metal Maintenance, drive systems, maintenance of heavy machinery, & automotive repair. Holds a current Electrician or higher license.

Sub for degree - (5) years practical experience maintaining all aspects of a plant or production facility, including full responsibility for maintenance of machinery, electrical, HVAC, forklifts, equipment sensors and control systems.
