Position Overview:
As a Low Voltage/Communications/Fiber Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, termination, and troubleshooting of low voltage systems, with a primary focus on fiber optic blowing/jetting, fiber splicing, and fiber enclosure installation
Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to prep and splice fiber via mechanical fusion methods
- Ability to splice large count fibers via tube or ribbon method
- Ability to access the fiber optic splicer enclosure and splice the necessary fibers directly from a ladder
- Able to troubleshoot and repair problems utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifier and Fiber Scope
- Prep, tray, and splice fiber optic cable ranging from single fiber to 288 count as well as perform ring cut when needed
- Perform testing and turn-ups of subscriber drops in both inside and outside plant environment
- Perform power meter testing
Fiber Installation & Termination: Install, Splice, and terminate fiber optic cables and connectors for commercial and residential clients.
Cable Management: Route and secure fiber cabling in accordance with industry standards and client specifications.
System Testing & Troubleshooting: Perform testing on fiber optic systems to ensure quality, reliability, and performance. Troubleshoot and resolve fiber-related issues when necessary.
Site Preparation: Prepare work areas by ensuring proper materials, tools, and equipment are available for installation.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and team members to plan and execute installations efficiently and on schedule.
Client Interaction: Provide excellent customer service, maintaining professionalism and clear communication with clients at all times.
Documentation: Maintain detailed installation records, including wiring diagrams and test results, to ensure accurate project documentation.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Low Voltage/Communications/Fiber Technician with at least [1] year of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, termination, blowing/jetting, and splicing.
In-depth knowledge of fiber optic cable types, splicing techniques, and termination procedures.
Experience with fiber optic systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (if applicable).
Ability to lift up to [50] pounds and work in a variety of physical environments (e.g., commercial, industrial, outdoor sites).
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in fiber optic installation.
