M-2421 RESEARCHER PROCESS MODELLING OF REACTIVE THERMOPLASTIC FLOW & CURE OF THICK WOUND COMPOSITE Temporary contract | 24 months | HautcharageAre you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join usThe Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a leading Research and Technology Organization (RTO) dedicated to advancing the frontiers of science and technology in the domains of materials, environmental sciences, and information technology. Committed to the seamless integration of cutting-edge research and innovation, LIST translates scientific insights into transformative technologies, intelligent data solutions, and innovative tools. You will join the Structural Composite Unit and the Design and Manufacturing of Advanced Composite (DMAC) research group of Materials Research and Technology (MRT) department. The DMAC research group combines expertise in computational performance evaluation, design and performance optimization, and innovative manufacturing process development. Do you want to know more about LIST ? check our website: Discover our MRT for Innovation Services department: How will you contribute?Join our dynamic team with this exciting job opportunity focused on the development of the process modelling of an innovative approach for producing thick wound structure made of (recyclable) reactive thermoplastic resin targeting sustainable H2 tank storage applications. In frame of the IMPRESS Project (FNR CORE funding), our focus will be on developing a new impregnation method that will facilitate an economical and robust manufacturing process for recyclable composite materials. To achieve this, we will employ high-strength carbon fiber, infusible and recyclable acrylic-based thermoplastic liquid resin (Elium by Arkema), and in-situ reactive polymerization to create composite pressure vessels that are both durable by design and reusable in a similar high-performance second life application.Based on the developed scientific instruments for reinforcement textile permeability measurement, polymerization induced shrinkage quantification, and the experimental data generated by benches at lab and subscale level for resin flow analysis and thermal gradient measurement and advanced characterization, you will develop a numerical model for manufacturing process able to predict pressure field (and consequently resin front) and evolution of temperature, degree of cure ( and consequently the polymerization shrinkage), over both time and location during the impregnation simulation that incorporates the actual textile mesoscale structure in the model. This position provides a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of transformative advancements in structural composite manufacturing technology. Your activities will include: Overseeing the development and validation of scientific instruments Contributing to the Design of Experiment and advanced characterization data analysis of both textile architecture and resin thermal physical behaviour in fast cure conditions.Method development for the uncertainty propagation of reinforcement variability.Development and validation of a dual-scale data-driven non-isothermal flow simulationExperimental/simulation correlation at sub scale levelIs Your profile described below? Are you our future colleague?
