Machine Operator

A well-established precision engineering company.



The Role

You need to be a good team player, and able to communicate effectively with other operatives, setters, and supervisors at all levels in the company. You will be responsible for supporting the setters and there is the ability to learn to set and progress within the organisation.



Work with minimal supervision.



To be responsible for the quality of parts produced and ensure they conform to company standards and product drawings.



To ensure all the company procedures are followed concerning product checking.



To run machines to achieve cycle times as recorded on the route cards.



Assist Setter/Team Leader in improving changeover times, machine running efficiencies and tooling setups.



Operate punch presses.



Keep work areas clean and tidy to help minimise the risk of accidents.



Ensure health and safety of self and others at all times.



Assistant in the maintenance on machines as and when required.



Transportation of goods within the factory, assisting with stock checks and general housekeeping within the manufacturing unit



To take part in any continual improvement programmes



Rotating shift work – one week on the 6am – 2pm shift, the next week on the 2pm – 10pm shift.



The Candidate

Experience operating punch press, brake press or CNC machinery

Understanding of technical drawings

Counterbalance fork truck licence

PC skills Knowledge of SMED and 5S disciplines

Good engineering or mechanical background

Previous manufacturing/engineering experience

Able to use Vernier/micrometre



The Package

The salary offered for this position is £10 per hour- £14 per hour plus up to 30% yearly bonus to candidates who can meet all key qualifications and abilities
