PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Machine Operator is responsible to operate machines and other equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the proper cleaning and preparation of castings as stated in the OMS/process sheet; efficiently inspect finished work.
Task and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and operate with hand and power tools like rail benders, shears, punches, presses, saws, cold expansion tools, grinders, and Huckbolt tools
- Perform inspections to eliminate spoilage
- Clean up maintenance and machine area regularly
- Read and follow the production schedule
- Able to work with little supervision
- Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies)
- High School graduate or GED
- Forklift and Crane certification
- Knowledge of operating rail benders, shears, punches, presses, cold expansion tools, grinders, Huckbolt tools, hydraulic benders or presses, shears, punches, and saws
- Ability to read work orders, ITP’s, blue prints, rulers and tape measures
- Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
- Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly lift and move up to 10-15 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 70 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Hearing abilities related to job assigned.
Working Location:
- Cheyenne, Wyoming
Shift:
- Monday to Friday (Saturday if required), 7:00am to 3:30pm / 3:30pm to 12:00am
- Overtime maybe required
