The Reliability Engineer works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and SHE teams to ensure the safe, reliable, efficient, and effective operations of the plant. This role focuses on planning and delivering mechanical and civil engineering activities for rotating equipment at the plant site, ensuring compliance with external legal requirements and internal standards. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for achieving current and future targets for asset condition and reliability.

 

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø  Promote the 20 principles of process and behavioral safety and adhere to life-saving rules.

Ø  Act as the Reliability Engineer to ensure rotating assets have the appropriate engineering controls to operate within their operating envelopes.

Ø  Report incidents, near misses, and hazard identifications, and lead onsite investigations, ensuring sustainable actions and conclusions.

Ø  Ensure workplace practices align with established guidelines (IGGN).

Ø  Performance Indicators – TRIR, AsCare Score, 10P Audit Score (areas related to role).

Ø  Rotating Equipment Technical Leader

·         Provide guidance on rotating equipment selection, fabrication, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, turnaround support, failure analysis, and risk evaluation, adhering to company and industry standards.

·         Develop short-term engineering solutions for rotating equipment to extend life and enhance reliability.

·         Ensure complete and accurate rotating equipment repair documentation.

·         Develop rotating equipment datasheets, specifications, and material requisitions, and support technical bid evaluations and ITP development.

·         Identify requirements for and coordinate third-party rotating equipment expertise at the site.

·         Ensure rotating equipment-related SHE incidents, shared learnings, root cause analyses, and technical best practices are addressed and understood.

·         Performance Indicators – Number of temporary repairs, operating envelope excursion counts, project on-time delivery.

Ø  Management of the Rotating Equipment/Vibration Monitoring Program

·         Oversee and direct the rotating equipment/vibration monitoring program, including troubleshooting and setting priorities for recommendation completion.

·         Define and implement asset maintenance programs and procedures to improve or maintain asset condition and performance.

·         Develop plans to improve rotating equipment reliability and continuously improve maintenance practices.

·         Work with operations and maintenance teams to understand breakdown issues and develop equipment-specific policies and design changes to enhance reliability.

·         Performance Indicators – Number of overdue rotating equipment inspections, number of overdue inspection recommendations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

v  B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline.

v  5 years of manufacturing experience , ideally in a chemical manufacturing plant.

v  3 years of experience in a related reliability role .

v  Knowledge of rotating equipment including centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, vacuum pumps, gearboxes, mechanical seals, centrifugal fans, blowers, and vibrational analysis.

v  Understanding of key factors contributing to damage in rotating equipment and the ability to select appropriate inspection methods, identify causes of failure, and recommend preventative measures.

v  Familiarity with process safety management and ISO systems.

v  Expertise in troubleshooting technical problems using appropriate tools and techniques to resolve mechanical, electrical, systems, or operational issues.

v  Knowledge of methodologies and technologies for administering a plant reliability program.
