Job Title: Maintenance Worker

Location: UP Excellence Academy, Houston, TX

Position Type: Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Worker at UP Excellence Academy is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of school facilities. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for students, staff, and visitors.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Conduct inspections and identify potential issues or hazards in the facility.
- Respond to maintenance requests and work orders promptly and efficiently.
- Repair and replace faulty or damaged components, fixtures, and equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks to extend the lifespan of equipment and systems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Collaborate with custodial staff to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the school environment.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down for school events and activities.
- Maintain school grounds, including basic landscaping, snow removal, and outdoor maintenance.
- Operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols in all maintenance activities.
- Monitor and manage inventory of maintenance supplies and request restocking as needed.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or services as required.
- Respond to emergency maintenance issues and provide timely solutions.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience
- Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a related field .

Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in using maintenance tools and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and functional school environment.
