Maintenance and Facilities Lead - Henrico
Job Description The Virginia Employment Commission is seeking a qualified candidate join our Division of General Services team, and fill the role of Maintenance and Facilities Lead. The Division of General Services provides general and facilities management services for the agency, including lease coordination and tracking, maintenance, repair, renovation, remodeling, planning and capital outlay management, and building access. In this position, the successful candidate will provide direct support for the agency facilities management and capital outlay programs. This position is open only to current employees of the Commonwealth of Virginia, or those who possess an active Yellow Form or Blue preferential hiring card. In order to receive consideration, your application and/or resume must reflect your status as a current Commonwealth of Virginia employee, or you must upload your valid blue/yellow card in the documents section.Additional duties of this position include:Conduct reviews and inspections of facilities for scheduled maintenance, safety reviews, and areas of improvement.Initiate corrective action in a timely manner to replace and/or restore equipment, services etc., as assigned by supervisor.Document reviews and corrective action taken, and file reports in accordance with established procedures.Respond to routine and emergency requests, initiate corrective action to the extent possible, and follow up after repairs or service is completed to ensure work was done appropriately.Prepare work orders for facility repair requests, projects, and services, as well as document work completed by staff and/or vendors and work scheduled for completion at a later date.Identify maintenance issues and corrective action(s) needed, track completion of work order requests, and ensure work and deliverables are completed in accordance with applicable standards and contracts.Review and process requests for new or modified physical access and regularly review existing access to ensure consistency across divisions.Assist with office moves, as directed, including scheduling, coordinating, and handling logistics.Maintain access badge database, issue access badges for Central Office, and prepare reports for audits and other requests.Assist with surplus property management, document surplus property storage and disposal information, assist with on-line auctions of VEC surplus items, as needed, and ensure proper and safe handling as well as appropriate disposal of equipment.Work closely with procurement staff on facility related contracts to ensure they are administered in accordance with contract provisions.Prepare and submit technical specifications and scope of work for repairs and/or replacement of facilities, equipment, etc.Review contract documentation (working drawings and specifications) for required maintenance or repair of physical plants and building systems.Assist with the selection of appropriate vendors, as assigned, and monitor and inspect work to ensure adequate and appropriate service was provided.Develop and deliver status reports as requested by supervisor.Maintain agency fleet vehicles in accordance with established guidelines.At the VEC, we strive every day to be the embodiment of our values of People, Accuracy, Teamwork, and Efficiency, as we support our mission by providing services in the areas of Job Placement, Unemployment Insurance, Workforce Development, and Economic Information. You can read the Commonwealth’s Telework Policy here.Minimum Qualifications At a minimum, the qualified applicant will possess:High school diploma or GED required.Working knowledge of standard practices of building trades, installation, repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities (HVAC, electrical and plumbing); building and construction requirements (e.g., Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code); property management and space and resource allocation. OSHA safety regulations and other code requirements, and capital outlay programs. Strong customer service, organizational skills, computer (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel or other similar products), project management and coordination, and communication (written and oral) skills. Ability to collect and analyze data and to prepare reports on progress.Ability to handle surplus property and fleet vehicles, issue and maintain building access information, and conduct reviews and inspections of facilities for scheduled maintenance and safety reviews. Ability to manage projects from start to completion.Ability to work effectively with staff, customers, and vendors.Ability to write technical specifications and/or scope of work for repairs, and to review and coordinate the work of others;Must be willing to travel statewide to inspect facilities.
