Location: Cape Girardeau, MO

Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Shift Hours: Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm On-call rotation

Pay Range: $16 - 18.40/hour dependent upon relevant, specific work experience in a maintenance role.


The Short and Sweet:

If you enjoy working with your hands, learning new skills, and not staring at the same wall daily, this position may be for you! Our Maintenance Crew Members are responsible for assisting and providing general maintenance duties at our offices and buildings across the five counties that we serve. In this role, you would have your hand in a bit of everything; building maintenance, electrical, HVAC, painting, plumbing, custodial, etc.

Our Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED / HSE
  • Valid Driver's License and proof of continuous auto insurance
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior maintenance experience to include basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Inside and Outdoor work is required with this position
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders to include roofs.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Maintenance: You would be responsible for working on the various maintenance projects across our operations. This can include routine, emergent, and special maintenance projects dependent upon the situation. Some days this could be replacing lighting ballasts, or identifying and fixing leaks, HVAC maintenance, basic, apartment inspections, repairing drywall, painting, cleaning walk ways during bad weather, and other duties as required. No two days are exactly the same.
  2. Communication: Communicating the needs of our facilities is an important piece to this role. You would be responsible for letting your Team Lead know what is going on with a facility, and any issues that needs to be addressed.
  3. Travel: This position does require you to travel between our five-county catchment area. However, the center does have maintenance vans and vehicles for our crew to utilize.

What you already know:

  1. You know how to preform general maintenance tasks. This can be around the house, or from working at a previous job. You're not scared of power tools or getting your hands dirty.
  2. How to be a problem solver. You can look at an issue and generally work towards a solution, or at the very least reach out for some additional help.
  3. How to be a team player. Typically, you would be working with a fellow team member on the various jobs, so being a team player and having great communication skills is a must
  4. How to take direction. Our Maintenance team has a wide variety of skill sets and specialties, being able to learn and take direction from your fellow co-workers and Team Lead is an important part of this position.

Physical Requirements:

• Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

• Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.

  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

• Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Visual Activities

• The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.

Working Conditions

• The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

  • The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions: No effective protection from weather.

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.

  • The worker is subject to extreme cold: Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity.

  • The worker is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than an hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity.

  • The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

  • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
