Job Title: Maintenance Electrician

 

Position Summary:
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems and equipment within the food production facility. This includes performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring that all electrical components are compliant with safety regulations and operational standards. The Maintenance Electrician plays a key role in minimizing downtime and maximizing the facility's production capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Electrical Maintenance and Repairs:
    • Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment to identify potential issues.
    • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, including motors, PLCs, control panels, circuit breakers, and lighting systems.
    • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in equipment, wiring, and circuits, ensuring minimal production downtime.
  2. Installation and Upgrades:
    • Install new electrical systems, components, and machinery as required for production processes.
    • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring it meets safety and operational standards.
    • Recommend upgrades to existing electrical systems to improve efficiency and compliance with industry standards.
  3. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all electrical work complies with local electrical codes, safety regulations, and facility policies.
    • Follow all lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures to ensure the safety of personnel during electrical maintenance activities.
    • Maintain documentation of electrical maintenance activities, including inspection logs, repair histories, and parts inventory.
  4. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
    • Quickly diagnose electrical problems, determine the root cause, and take appropriate corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to address electrical issues impacting production lines and facility operations.
    • Utilize diagnostic tools, schematics, and manuals to aid in troubleshooting.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
    • Provide detailed reports on electrical issues, repairs performed, and recommendations for future maintenance actions.
    • Assist in managing inventory of electrical parts and materials required for maintenance and repairs.
  6. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other maintenance staff, production teams, and management to ensure minimal disruption to the production schedule.
    • Assist with training and mentoring junior maintenance staff on electrical systems and safety procedures.
  7. Emergency Response:
    • Respond promptly to electrical emergencies, ensuring minimal downtime for production and maintaining safety throughout the process.
    • Be available for on-call duties as needed to support emergency repairs.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field ).
  • Proven experience as an electrician, preferably in an industrial or food production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and safety protocols.
  • Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, refrigeration, and automation systems is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical codes, safety standards, and lock-out/tag-out procedures.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in high-stress environments.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and on-call duty when required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to [specific weight limit, e.g., 50 lbs].
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • The role involves exposure to industrial machinery and food production environments.
  • Must adhere to strict hygiene and safety practices due to the food production setting.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
