Location: Harlow, Essex

Salary: £47,500 (Raises to £51,000 past probation)

Employment Type: Full Time – Permanent

Our client focuses on engineering and construction services. Who are experts in the development and building of buildings and facilities within business-critical engineering systems.

We are currently looking for Engineers to work within their shift team to maintain the facilities of one of their customers data centres based in Harlow, Essex.

The role will have an element of shift, which will work as follows. (Meaning you must be able to commit to this working pattern)

Continental Shift Pattern – 24x7x365 (3 days - 3 nights - 4 off - 4 days - 6 off - 4 nights - 4 off)

What you will be doing:

  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance activities and first line Break Down response, to the Mechanical & Electrical plant, equipment and systems within SLA’s/KPI’s.
  • To assist specialist sub-contractors during routine site visits as directed
  • To ensure the company Health & Safety policy is adhered to within scheme of responsibilities.
  • To always work within the clients Managed Services processes and procedures.
  • Carry out Planned Maintenance to Mechanical & Electrical plant in accordance with set schedules, ensuring engineering standards are maintained in order to maximise the operational effectiveness and reliability of the plant, equipment and associated systems
  • Respond in a prompt and effective manner to all Reactive Maintenance issues, and service desk requests
  • To support visiting specialist sub-contractors associated with aspects of the PPM schedules
  • To be HV & LV aware and able to understand switching schedules, method statements and risk assessments accordingly.
  • Able to understand & carryout site SOP’s & EOP’s procedures
  • Competent in the day to day operation of the site, its plant and machinery in all operating conditions
  • Good communication with the other technical engineers and specialist sub-contractors, especially in the event of an incident
  • To be fully conversant and familiar with any new plant or systems that have been installed, including the O & M manuals to know where to find technical information quickly in an emergency
  • To participate in the smooth handover process to the ‘on coming’ Shift Team. Ensure all keys, tools, BMS, fire alarm panels and Critical Plant alarms are in a satisfactory condition. All logs/records must be correctly completed and signed as correct. Adherence to set engineering standards in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act

Experience & Certification Required:

  • Previous experience working in data centre and/or critical environments (min 2 years)
  • Technically focused, fault diagnostic skills and organised
  • Computer literacy, written, good oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload within tight deadlines and to a high standard
  • Adjust rapidly and effectively to changes in work demands or business needs
  • Effective communication skills with customers and to all levels of management
  • Qualification in building services mechanical and electrical engineering to a minimum of City & Guilds
  • 17th Edition Institute of Electrical Engineers registration
  • A good working knowledge of building services trades – UPS, Diesel Generators, Plumbing, HVAC systems and Refrigeration
  • Computer literate with excellent I.T. skills especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and awareness of CAFM systems and their use
