Description





Position Summary: The role of the Maintenance & Engineering Manager will be to develop and execute the business strategy through maintenance and engineering teams. The focus will be on equipment maintenance and improvement, manufacturing building moves, flow optimization, Lean principles, and process improvement. This position is a key leadership role in implementing improvements including but not limited to deployment of current and new equipment to future and existing facilities supporting the expansion of the business. This role will also support the design, implementation, and improvement of processes within our facilities.





Main Duties:





Maintenance and Facility





Promote a safety-first culture by ensuring a secure working environment for all employees.





Manage predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance efforts as required to improve constraint/critical equipment availability and reliability by utilizing CMMS (MaintainX).





Analyze/trend maintenance costs, prioritize improvement activities.





Conduct timely/competent root cause analyses. Recommend/implement innovative, efficient, and effective corrective actions resulting in stable and capable processes.





Support vendor negotiations, including purchasing of spare parts, equipment, and service contracts.





Demonstrates high level of facilitation skills to reach consensus; works toward win-win solutions for business benefit.





Establish and monitor weekly preventive maintenance schedules for effective mechanic support.





Manage spare parts inventory to meet operational demands and maintain accurate records.





Recruit, onboard, and manage maintenance personnel, ensuring effective training and performance.





Conduct annual EH&S audits and ensure compliance with safety regulations.





Lead facilities planning and machine movement, including cost estimations.





Manage facility repairs and improvement.





Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing and Flow Optimization:





Leverage strategic thinking and a strong technical background to drive continuous improvement initiatives with a bias for action.





Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams on continuous improvement projects, utilizing lean manufacturing principles, process control, automation, and capability enhancement.





Develop and implement process improvements for fabrication and assembly operations while providing ongoing technical support for both new and existing manufacturing systems.





Analyze current workflows to identify optimization opportunities, focusing on waste reduction and cost savings.





Ensure project accountability by delivering results on time and within budget.





Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes and enhance overall operational efficiency.





Implement visual management tools and performance metrics to effectively monitor and track progress.





Collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardize best practices and advance continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.





Conduct downtime, line balancing, motion, and manufacturing capacity studies; design product line layouts and route plans to enhance workflow.





Perform work simplification studies, including flow and value analysis, to improve labor efficiencies and material utilization on assembly lines.





Maintain engineering changes, bills of materials, product routings, and manufacturing/process documentation.





Develop and uphold standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality documentation related to engineering and manufacturing processes.





Travel to other manufacturing facilities for project installations as needed, which may include extended periods away from the primary location.





Provide support to Manufacturing, Materials Management, and other departments as required.





Execute additional duties as assigned.





Building Moves & New Facility Launch:





Strategically plan and coordinate the relocation of manufacturing operations to new facilities, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules and maintaining operational continuity.





Develop detailed move plans that encompass equipment layout, workflow optimization, and logistical considerations to enhance efficiency.





Lead the design and layout of new manufacturing facilities, prioritizing sustainability, energy efficiency, and waste reduction initiatives.





Collaborate extensively with vendors and contractors to facilitate the safe and efficient refurbishment, transfer, and commissioning of equipment and materials.





Conduct comprehensive post-move evaluations to identify improvement opportunities and implement necessary corrective actions.





Partner with local talent to ensure the successful completion of projects, effectively leveraging regional expertise as needed.





Education/Experience





Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering/ Manufacturing Engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the metal rolling, metal press, metal forming and fabrication.





Ten years related experience in a manufacturing environment.





Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.





Proficient problem-solving and multitasking skill.

Ability to promote teamwork among peers is a must.





Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).





Proficient with AutoCAD, Solid Works, or other similar software





Previously exposed to SAP or an equivalent ERP system.

Licenses / Certifications: None





Physical Requirements: Sit for long periods of time. Time will also be spent collaborating with other departments on the factory floor. Extended periods of standing and crouching as required for each project.





Work Conditions





Environment: Typical environment will be an office with moderate noise; however, extended periods of time will be spent on the factory floor exposed to very loud noise.





Travel: <10%
