The Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the maintenance team, including the repair and upkeep of equipment, forklifts, and other facilities. This role involves assigning tasks, directly performing maintenance work, and guiding the maintenance staff to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and safely. The Maintenance Lead collaborates with management to ensure effective service delivery and that departmental goals are met. This includes planning and resourcing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and maintenance shutdowns. Additionally, the Maintenance Lead fosters a culture of continuous improvement within the team and supports the Production Supervisor in managing overall operations and production at the facility.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the maintenance team, ensuring performance expectations set by management are met.
- Assign and coordinate EPICOR-generated work orders and ensure effective prioritization of tasks.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the team for technical repairs and guidance.
- Review and manage the maintenance workload and active repair tickets, assigning tasks to optimize resource use.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the company ERP system, Epicor.
- Perform effective diagnostics of equipment breakdowns and execute timely repairs.
- Conduct scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and equipment inspections.
- Document equipment breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, ensuring all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and company policies. Promote a safety-focused culture within the team.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and supplies, reporting needs to management.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment maintenance logs, and inspection reports. Ensure documentation is organized and accessible.
- Lead the development of innovative solutions for complex issues and support the technical skill development of team members.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe practices are integrated into maintenance processes.
- Identify and deploy necessary technical skills, resources, and systems for project delivery, including engaging external resources as needed.
- Assist management in identifying and providing training and development opportunities for the team.
- Develop and implement effective maintenance communication strategies, procedures, and methods.
- Champion team success and growth by leading by example and fostering a culture of safety and high performance.
- Achieve or exceed all key performance indicators (KPIs) and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Embrace and apply 5S methodology to maintain a high-quality work environment.
- Drive a culture of safety, quality, and productivity through all maintenance and business efforts.
- Comply with KABAR safety guidelines and OSHA regulations. Attend all required safety training.
- Demonstrate physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Be willing to work flexible hours and respond to maintenance emergencies as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Minimum of five years of industrial maintenance experience, with a strong hands-on problem-solving approach.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S, and lean management techniques.
- Proven track record in a maintenance role, with supervisory experience in metal fabrication and facility operations being a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of equipment.
- Excellent organizational, management, and communication skills.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Able to lift heavy objects and work in various physical conditions.
- Associate degree related to maintenance or equivalent experience .
Attendance and Performance Expectations:
- Must maintain a favorable attendance record and achieve a performance review rating of contributor or higher.
- Final corrective actions may disqualify current incumbents from holding the position.
