About the Role:
The Maintenance Manager will lead the maintenance team to ensure the effective operation of machinery, electrical systems, and facility infrastructure in our furniture manufacturing plant. The role involves managing preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues, and upholding safety standards. Candidates should possess advanced knowledge of machinery and woodworking processes, strong communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high dependability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Expertise in Machinery and Woodworking Processes:
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of machinery and woodworking processes, including safety practices.
- Mechanical and Electrical Repairs:
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs with limited technical assistance, showing competency in hydraulics, pneumatics, high voltage, low voltage, control voltage, and general mechanical systems.
- Accurately troubleshoot and estimate downtime, assessing priorities to minimize production impact.
- Fabrication Skills and Knowledge:
- Possess skills in fabrication techniques, including cutting, welding, and brazing.
- Understand metallurgy to fabricate reliable devices and components that withstand wear and tear.
- Process Optimization and Machinery Setup:
- Set up machinery with precision, calculating necessary feeds and speeds for woodworking processes.
- Calculate pulley and chain speeds, electrical, and mechanical requirements to ensure reliable equipment operation.
- Implement design changes as needed to maintain the highest quality standards for processed materials.
- Peripheral Equipment and Safety Standards:
- Be well-versed in peripheral equipment, processes, and standards necessary for a safe, functional woodworking environment.
- Enforce and maintain compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Leadership and Training:
- Show leadership by assigning and prioritizing workloads effectively and managing high-pressure situations with diplomacy.
- Maintain high dependability and consistent performance.
- Train fellow employees on best maintenance practices to ensure machinery reliability and longevity.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required, technical degree or certification in mechanics, electrical, or a related field .
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance management experience, ideally within manufacturing or a related industry.
- Advanced knowledge of machinery, woodworking processes, and safety practices.
- Strong competency in hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems (high, low, and control voltage), and general mechanical repairs.
- Fabrication skills, including cutting, welding, brazing, and understanding metallurgy for durable device creation.
- Familiarity with machinery setup, feed/speed calculations, and process equipment specifications.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Physical capability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and working in diverse facility areas.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with occasional overtime for maintenance needs and emergencies.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and variable temperatures in a manufacturing environment.
