Position Purpose: The position also serves as the key technical resource for the manufacturing facility focusing on troubleshooting, identifying opportunity root cause, developing sustainable solutions for mechanical and electrical equipment issues, teaching the Maintenance and Operations team and further developing their capabilities.
Principle Accountabilities
- Plan, direct and control the efforts of the Maintenance Department to maintain plant equipment and facilities commensurate with good, safe engineering practices.
- Assist the Plant Engineering Manager in providing optimal relations and operations management.
- Direct the mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair program buildings through subordinate supervisors.
- Plan and prioritize master work schedule. Coordinate major usage changes.
- Accountable for maintenance reliability excellence program.
- Accountable for the preventive maintenance program, and maintenance of production equipment and facilities.
- Develop, maintain and administer an organization qualified to maintain all equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient working condition. Execute an effective preventive maintenance program to minimize unscheduled down time.
- Maintain all operating equipment in satisfactory condition. Schedule needed repair to have minimum interference.
- Assure that production equipment is capable of producing within the established specifications and tolerances.
- Consult with Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering and the Production Department regarding desirable modifications of existing equipment and facilities and the possible replacement of existing equipment which will improve operations and reduce maintenance costs.
- Coordinate the efficient operation of all facilities necessary to the distribution and usage of electric power, natural gas and water.
- Analyze cost studies of proposals for new facilities and equipment in the department designed to secure reduced operating costs. Make recommendations thereon to the Plant Operations Manager.
- Develop objectives and standards of performance for projects within the Maintenance Department required to meet departmental, divisional and corporate goals and objectives.
- Plan and provide for an adequate supply and ensure control over spare parts and maintenance supplies.
- Set work priorities and objectives and assure that supervisors meet or exceed them.
- Coordinate work for major usage change.
- Train, supervise and evaluate Maintenance staff.
- Recommend promotions, demotions, discharges and other personnel changes for staff.
- Review and approve Maintenance recommendations for the purchase of tools, material and supplies.
- Administer and communicate company and customer policies and procedures to subordinates.
- Communicate with the Plant Engineering Manager any information affecting or having the potential to affect customer relations or employee relations.
- Ensure safe work practices and work environment.
- Leads maintenance safety team.
- Ensures that maintenance safety practices and procedures are followed.
- Related tasks as requested by supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Technical Degree required. Bachelor's Degree .
- 5+ years of manufacturing required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills required.
- Ability to lift 50lbs., climb stairs, walk, and stand a significant part of the shift.
- Ability to work in high humidity and high temperature environments.
