The facilities management team consists of several specialized groups to meet the needs of Emory Healthcare Facilities. We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Specialist III to support and oversee equipment, patient care, and sustainability. This Individual will:
Licensed skilled, trained and certified in one of the competency areas of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, steam control, and related building systems and equipment.
Practicing under the guidance of a licensed professional. Provides guidance to maintenance mechanics and assigns and schedules work.
Interprets departmental and organizational policies and procedures for staff to ensure consistent practices.
Picks-up and distributes work assignments and gives direction to ensure work orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Schedules, monitors and directs workflow.
Observes and reviews work produced by staff to maintain efficiency and timely services.
Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, schematics and written technical documents of general machineries to locate area of trouble and complete repairs accurately.
Performs preventive maintenance on related equipment, buildings and building systems to ensure safe and proper operations.
Shuts down equipment prior to scheduled repairs if necessary.
Operates and maintains building equipment and systems such as vacuum systems, control air systems, building air systems, emergency generators, electrical distribution systems, liquid pumping systems, steam, air handling systems hot/cold water systems and natural gas and fuel oil systems.
Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems with assigned equipment, systems and buildings. Operates various electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment and systems to diagnose and maintain systems.
Maintains records and files. Interprets applicable regulations and establishes filing and auditing policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Practices all applicable safety regulations and uses personal protective equipment as required.
Responds to customer requests and complaints in a timely and appropriate manner; identifies and records need or problem and determines best approach to resolve situation following departmental guidelines.
Provides training and instruction for staff; assesses training needs, prepares materials, and shares knowledge and expertise on an on-going basis.
Repairs and adjusts doors, windows, closures, panic devices and locks.
Patches holes, installs escutcheons, repairs ceiling and floor tile as needed to maintain building appearance.
Makes minor masonry and wood repairs.
Installs pictures, coat hooks, other wall hung furnishings, and equipment as requested. Performs preventive maintenance activities, responds to customer complaints, and repairs equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of ten years of experience in building maintenance with supportive licensure or degree in building maintenance OR 20 years of experience in one or more of the competency areas.
Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, and twist.
