Hornig Companies seeks a full-time Maintenance Supervisor to supervise a team of Maintenance Technicians, officing out of Hornig Companies’ home office in the Minneapolis Lake Loop area, servicing our Minneapolis and St. Paul Portfolios.

What are some of the things I would do?

  • Evaluate and ensure Maintenance Technicians are properly trained for their positions, whether on-the-job training, mentoring or outside training is most appropriate
  • Interview, inspect work and encourage quality performance of the team
  • Make recommendations of best practices, improvements to processes and proper completion of maintenance functions
  • Provide excellent customer service to , following up, responding to concerns and communicating with frequently regarding work order status in a caring compassionate manner that upholds Hornig Companies’ customer service reputation and Fair Housing guidelines
  • Select vendors, monitor and ensure ongoing satisfactory vendor relations
  • Provide expertise on building repair, concentrating on preventing future maintenance concerns in historical and aging buildings
  • Promote safety, ensuring Maintenance Technicians are properly trained on safety policies and procedures as well as monitoring compliance
  • Follow all state, federal and local laws regarding repairs and building code
  • Perform position responsibilities with cost effectiveness in mind at all times as well as efficiency in work practices
  • Attend and lead company meetings as needed
  • Regularly update and manage information in company computer software and applications

What should I bring to the team?

  • Mechanical, plumbing and light electrical aptitude
  • Ability and willingness to learn
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Valid Driver’s License and meet car insurance requirements
  • Able to support technicians in their emergency after hours on-call responsibilities via phone, text, email and at times, in person
  • Ability to operate applicable phone applications for work orders, time allocation, and information look-up
  • Ability to stand, lift and bend for up to 8 hours (with breaks) in hot/cold and wet environments
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Prior Multi-housing experience
