Plastic Molding Technology (PMT) manufactures high precision plastic parts for automotive, telecommunications, medical device, renewable energy, and industrial customers. The primary manufacturing processes are injection molding and thermoforming. PMT has ~100 injection molding presses at its two primary manufacturing locations in El Paso, TX and Centennial, CO (a suburb of Denver). A third facility in Longmont, CO (a suburb of Denver) provides in-house repair and fabrication of tools & dies.

Role Description:
As a Maintenance Technician in a plastic molding operation, you will be responsible for the maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment used in the production of plastic molded parts. Your expertise will encompass electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor systems, enabling you to handle various aspects of the maintenance process. You will work closely with engineers, operators, and other maintenance personnel to ensure the successful implementation and optimal performance of all systems, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
What you’ll do:
- Conduct regular equipment inspections to proactively identify potential issues
- Generate strategies to identify and mitigate recurring equipment problems
- Plan and execute a preventative maintenance plan to maximize machinery uptime and extend its productive lifespan
- Install, set up and repair equipment, including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor components, according to engineering specifications and manufacturer guidelines
- Maintenance and configuration of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), robotic controllers, servo drives and related equipment
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment, including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor systems, robotic systems, conveyors, injection molding machines, and other related machinery
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor components, identifying root causes and implementing appropriate solutions
- Respond promptly to alarms, errors, or breakdowns in any of the systems, taking appropriate action to resolve issues
- Collaborate with operators to provide technical support, training, and troubleshooting guidance as needed for all equipment
- Maintain accurate documentation of equipment installation, maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications for all equipment
- Keep up with documentation to maintain meticulous records of maintenance work, trends and outcomes to support data-driven decision making
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation systems and processes for electrical, pneumatic, plumbing, and facilities
- Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations and building codes
- Identify and address potential safety hazards associated with the installation and operation of automation equipment
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to maintenance and automation
What we’re looking for:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in automation, mechatronics, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and or plumbing
- Proven experience as a maintenance and automation technician or in a similar role, preferably in a plastic molding environment, with expertise in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, robotics, servo drives, stepper motor controllers, as well as electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic controls
- Familiarity with plastic molding processes, equipment, and related systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals for electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor components
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions related to electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor systems
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced production environment
