We are seeking an exceptional Manager of Data Engineering to lead our talented team of data engineers in delivering innovative data solutions for our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with expertise in cloud data technologies such as AWS, or Azure and Snowflake. This role requires a strategic thinker who can drive the design, development, and implementation of scalable data solutions while providing leadership and guidance to our team of data engineers. This role will be reporting to the Senior Manager, Data & Analytics. Responsabilities: Lead the implementation of the technology solution Delivery of large and/or complex full lifecycle data applications across cloud, hybrid and on-prem landscapes. Design and build robust data pipelines using scalable tools and techniques to produce high quality data structures. Engineer data solutions with experience architecting data transformation projects, developing solution blueprints and modernization/migration plans, documenting, and presenting recommendations to stakeholder. Implement quicker data processing methods and integrate complex business logic compatible with daily or real-time/streaming frameworks. Increase automation and scaling of complex data sets based on the customer's analytic use case, such as structured data delivery for business analysis, daily extraction of mission enabling data for data mining/exploration, and transforming data for applied intelligence to power impactful data visualizations. Drives development of effective data policies, standards, guidelines and usage of data within the organization such as data quality and data governance. Determine root cause for data integrity gaps and provide appropriate data resolution and process remedy solutions. Responsible to drive technology vision and continuous improvement objectives for a functional area. Accountable and responsible to own a specific delivery area, with teams having similar or uniform skill sets. Manage and lead a data engineering team (+/-10 permanents). Responsible for recruitment, selection, and onboarding employees. Responsible for maintaining a healthy work environment including development of personal growth opportunities for reporting employees. Communicate job expectations, monitoring, and appraising employee performance. Provide coaching, counseling, and mentoring to employees. Qualifications A relevant University degree/technical certification, and/or relevant experience commensurate to the role. 9-12 years of IT technology delivery and architecture, operations, people leadership and strategy experience in a large company. Minimum of 8 years of experience delivering data analytics solution on Azure/ AWS, Snowflake with expertise of in Azure/ AWS data services, ADLS, Synapse, Azure SQL, Databricks, ADF, Azure DevOps. Experience developing Data Platforms on Spark/Hadoop, ETL (Talend), Data Analytics Cloud Native Data Services. The ideal candidates should be members or qualify for admission to a provincial engineering professional association. Strong hands-on experience in building data engineering pipelines.
