The facility Food Safety and Quality Manager (FSQM) is responsible for providing technical quality and food safety leadership and expertise for the manufacturing /distribution of the plant’s products and manufacturing facility.  This position requires close interaction with other site departments, corporate FSQ, and the plant’s day-to-day operations employees.  The principal responsibility is to assure that the Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS) are fully developed, implemented and maintained and is compliant with FDA regulatory and SQF requirements. This role will lead food safety initiatives, oversee regulatory compliance, and drive a strong food safety culture within the organization.

Leadership & Training

Sanitation Management

Continuous Improvement & Risk Management.

Key Must Have’s:

  • Ideally a Bachelor's degree in Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or related field.  
  • 4+ years of food processing and management experience.
  • Minimum 2 years in a manufacturing. environment under USDA and/or FDA regulations.
  • 2+ years facilitating food safety/quality related training events.
  • HACCP Certification from a nationally / internationally recognized and accredited HACCP training firm. –
  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Certification. –
  • This person will lead the SQF Dept of 10 people – So they need Safe Food Quality (SFQ) experience, they want to gain mfg certification in this area.
  • Understand policy and procedures to beef up their quality control systems so they can get certified.  They have a decent plan in place, they just need to improve it
  • This person needs to be hands on in the shop/mfg floor 
  • Someone who has done continuous improvement in a mfg facility and can use this at their facility.
  • MS Office skill set.
  • Be able to do quality training with the people at the plant.
  • Auditing / audit skills experience in quality or food safety management systems, including internal / external auditing for compliance.
  • Ability to analyze processes for Biological, Chemical, and Physical hazards with an understanding of the science and support behind each type of hazard and each step of a production process.
  • Must have strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Experience implementing and using state of the art statistical process control tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to work with cross functional departments within the organization.
  • Good problem-solving skills and corrective action/resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage and develop personnel
