About our team:
You will be joining a collaborative, curious, team of Software Engineers at all different levels. By joining us you will have the opportunity to share ownership in solving this problem end to end. From exploring new data sources for building features, to design and put in production predictive models and make sure they perform consistently over time.
About the job: SRE Manager to join our Technology team, to provide leadership, direction and operational knowledge to build observable, scalable, reliable and redundant systems. The focus is on the reliable operations of our software pipeline from code commit through testing, and into production.
You will have opportunity to help deliver strategic change and accelerate our teams through initiatives to build common infrastructure, tools, solutions, patterns & practices that can be shared across all our engineering teams.
Hybrid -2 days per week
You'll be Responsible for
- Interviewing, hiring, appraising performance, planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Ensuring all staff are provided with frequent feedback and coaching to meet and exceed individual and team performance goals consistently.
- Mentoring SREs in technical skills and efficient teamwork behaviours, serving as a senior source of expertise.
- Driving automation to aid productivity, to minimise the traditional Operational effort and maximise Infrastructure as Code.
- Promoting the implementation and adoption of common infrastructure, tools, solutions, patterns & best practices that can be shared across all our engineering teams.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Security and other engineering functions to deliver solutions that are secure and compliant with Cirium’s Technology strategy and the expectations of our parent company.
- Manage and encourage new ideas from staff to foster improvements and innovation. Seek diverse ideas and perspectives from a variety of sources to create better solutions, products, and services.
- Managing cloud spend.
- Establish SLOs/SLAs with input from product teams, create/develop measurement, and ensure they are met.
Qualifications:
- Experience of operations or software development experience.
- Solid experience leading Site Reliability or Software Engineering teams. Extensive experience in a DevOps or SRE role.
- AWS cloud experience
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Delivery of resilient application stacks via Infrastructure as Code and other DevOps, CI/CD practices.
- Strong skills in setting, communicating, implementing, and achieving business objectives and goals through the direct management of others.
- Ability to act as a point of expertise, advise others in the team on best practice and impart knowledge. You will have a sharing, mentoring and educational aptitude.
- Strong and enthusiastic technologist, able to demonstrate a broad technical knowledge.
- Able to work independently and across time-zones.
- Diagnosis and resolution of complex system and application issues.
- Monitoring and on-going support of critical, high revenue business applications.
- Experience of working in an Agile environment.
Technical Skills
The successful candidate will be expected to split their time ~60/40 between leadership/management duties and hands-on technical direction and implementation. In this role, it will be important to maintain and exercise your technical skills, to support the team and make well informed decisions.
