Manufacturing Controls Engineer

 

• Develop and implement improvements to control systems and equipment using Factory Information Systems (FIS) data.

• Lead problem solving in resolving equipment performance issues.

• Lead trouble shooting; coordinate resources to find root cause and fixes, manage and breakdown problems into items that can be validated.

• Assist in the training of manufacturing personnel and plant electricians.

• Assist in integration of controls into IT systems like Factory Information Systems (FIS), Error Proofing, QWX, and QTS.

• Troubleshoot machinery, robot, automation, and controls issues and downtime

• Use FIS plant monitoring software to review cycle times of equipment.

• Review and coordinate project installations.

• Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements

• Maintain program backups for machinery and automation

• Program new installations of automation, machinery, material handling, and robots

• Review risk assessments as part of a team evaluating equipment safety.

 

Skills Required:

• Electrical Engineering Degree or applicable experience

 • Machining background a plus

• Ability to work with UAW maintenance, Vendors and other Process Team Members when required.

• Communication skills; verbal, email, etc.

• Microsoft Suite familiarity (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Familiar with UL508A requirements and NFPA79

• Familiar with Pro-tag and Midas check sheets

• Siemens Step 7 programming and troubleshooting

• Siemens power line and solution line configuration and programming

• Fanuc controls troubleshooting

 

Skills :

• Beckhoff controls troubleshooting.

• Familiar with CPN/MPN design and configuration

• Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Lubrication, and Coolant design & functionality

• Laser operation and Laser safety

• Programmable safety design and operation

• CNC design and operation

• Risk Assessment process

• RFID tag map and controls (Beckhoff and Siemens)

• All controls systems lifecycle (obsolescence)

• ECPL and Access task process and design

• Allen Bradley RS Logix, Control Logix, and Micro Logix

 

Experience Required:

• 3 year or more of Controls Engineering experience in manufacturing environment

• 3 years or more experience with PLC logic, controls, Siemens and Modicon programming

 

Education Required:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

 

Education :

Electrical Technician

 

Additional Information :

Some overtime will be required. Any OT will need to be pre- approved from supervisor. Fully onsite.
