
Manufacturing Engineer
Electronics Manufacturing company seeking an individual with experience in executing and implementing engineering defined processes in the manufacturing of electronic products. Must possess knowledge of MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning) software and quality control standards as it relates to electronic and electromechanical components. The position involves interaction with different teams within the organization; production, test department, quality, and purchasing. The successful candidate will be the engineering liaison assisting all departments in completing their manufacturing task ensuring the production of high-quality products in the most efficient manner possible.
Essential Functions:
• Direct, audit, and design production processes, tools, and methods, to aid in the production of high-quality products.
• Train production personnel on the proper use and execution of tools, processes, and procedures.
• Working as a member within the engineering team, improve assembly instruction documentation and verify that these instructions are properly executed by the production teams.
• Interact with contract manufacturers and other vendors regarding technical issues.
• Identify and analyze potential cost and quality improvement opportunities in production.
• Support receiving and receiving inspection in the proper identification of received electronic components (e.g., resistor, capacitor, inductor, transformer, semiconductor, mechanical hardware).
• Support quality control by:
- Collaborating in the analysis and inspection of non-compliant components or material, (Counterfeit Parts Mitigation).
- Representing Engineering during MRB meetings helping to advise the disposition of discrepant material.
- Reviewing and approving supplier corrective action reports.
- Lead efforts for approval of first articles.
• Support purchasing by:
- Approving purchase order technical details, creating drawing packages for contract manufactured assemblies, and providing drawings for purchased fabricated components (e.g., bare-PCBs, magnetics, and sheet-metal).
- Liaising with suppliers of all types (e.g., answer supplier-submitted questions; review and advise the results of supplier corrective action reports).
Skills and Competencies:
• Must be a highly organized individual.
• Must have hands-on experience in the assembly of electrical and/or electronic circuits.
• Must have basic knowledge of electronics and electricity.
• Must demonstrate strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be able to communicate face to face, by phone, and by email.
• Must have a solid background in manufacturing of electronic products, including special precautions such as ESD, PCB cleaning, etc.
• Must be able to read and interpret electronic component data sheets, fabrication drawings (e.g., bare-PCB’ s, magnetics, and sheet-metal), and assembly drawings (e.g., electromechanical subassemblies and PCB assemblies).
• Experience with AutoCAD/Solid Works or similar program is highly preferred.
• Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is highly preferred.
• Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with ERP or MRP software is highly preferred.
Work environment: This job requires time spent both in an office and electronics assembly/manufacturing work environment
Physical demands: Primary duties involve the use of a personal computer and the handling and movement of materials
Education: The position requires a Bachelor of Science in an engineering field, or an Associate of Science in an engineering field and 1 to 5 years of prior, related experience.
