Reporting To: Plant Manager

Summary:

Plans and conducts activities concerned with manufacturing engineering for all manufacturing/production support, continuous improvement, and new product related activities. That production targets are achieved in line with manufacturing plans through development of lean manufacturing methods and technical support for all operational departments by performing the following duties.

Duties:

  1. Ensure all Production employees and production areas are in compliance with OSHA regulations and employees are instructed thoroughly with respect to work safety, environmental hazards and relevant conditions, regulations, and procedures as necessary.
  2. Review standard operations and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards – Safety, Quality, Delivery & Productivity. Conduct walk backs on gaps and opportunities and correct in real-time. Acts as key driver and leader for plant safety and security.
  3. Supports weekly production goals via technical support throughout the manufacturing /Assembly plant.
  4. Ensures lean goals are achieved i.e., Kaizens, CI, Quality improvements, Productivity etc.
  5. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, promoting a clean, safe, and efficient work environment - 5S / TPM housekeeping methodology are to be applied throughout the Warehouse and all storage areas. Audit each area and apply appropriate action where necessary.
  6. Thorough knowledge of problem-solving methods and tools – 8-D / 6-Sigma 5Y’s & Cause and Effect.
  7. Maintains Mfg. documentation to ensure accuracy including Mfg. layouts, PFMEAs, 5S/TPM, Process Flows, Cell / Plant layouts, and work instructions/SOPs.
  8. Ensures procedures and work instructions reflect actual behavior in the cells and are practically adhered to.
  9. Ensures tooling is accurate, maintained and up to date per procedure. Tooling costs are within budget and that there is a program to develop extended tooling life and reducing costs in a proactive manner.
  10. Drive production quality levels above 90% DPR, maintain Zero recordable safety incidents.
  11. Supports operator training and improves the overall skills and awareness.
  12. Ensures new product development and improvements are executed on time and is an effective transition from development to core product within agreed budgets.
  13. Collects and analyzes quality and production data as necessary for improving operator and process performance.
  14. Develops and proves off new tools / machines, supports proving-off capabilities / PPAPs. Prepares equipment schedules, process plans, and project manages per agreed targets.
  15. Work with new equipment suppliers on design, building, commissioning and pass off.
  16. Plan and manage individual projects into production utilizing appropriate software tools.
  17. Liaising with program management, design, and development departments to ensure project deadline are met for new products and modifications to existing processes.
  18. Knowledge and Work in Manufacturing Execution System
  19. Knowledge and work about Programmable Logic Controller system
  20. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education / Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or university program certificate - preferably mechanical or equivalent experience; or 4-6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:

Basic IT systems knowledge and skills required. Proficient in Specialist systems such as AutoCAD/Solid works and MS Project. Advanced Excel user. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.

Ability:

Competent to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Math Ability:

Apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis. Basic mathematical skills and statistics experience .

Reasoning—Ability:

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.

  1. Plant Manager: For general direction and management support.
  2. Management – Develop key relationships at multiple levels in all disciplines to meet the company agenda and business strategy to ensure production plans are achieved.
  3. Supporting areas – Product development & design, Quality, Accounting, Purchasing, HR/IT.
  4. Operators: To ensure all manufacturing/production methods and process are being followed to the required production rates and standards.
