Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer supports the Production Department by resolving issues related to tools and instructions used in the manufacture of RF coaxial cable assemblies. The Manufacturing Engineer will work in concert with Production and Operations to assure proper tooling for efficient manufacturing of products to meet customer scheduling and quality requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviewing manufacturing documentation to determine what tools need to be ordered to support production.
- Reviewing/maintaining/improving documentation related to manufacturing of RF coaxial cable assemblies.
- Obtaining quotes, generating purchase requests, and tracking orders related to tooling.
- Working with other sites to acquire tools either on loan or permanently.
- Maintaining the inventory of tools and their locations.
- Verifying tools are properly marked and easily identified.
- Verifying tools are still in tolerance and replacing when no longer acceptable.
- Organizing tools for efficient access when needed.
- Designing/developing tooling and fixtures to support production needs.
- Ensuring compliance with internal standards, processes, and procedures.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or other relevant experience
- Experience reading and understanding drawings and specifications
- Strong engineering fundamentals
- Familiarity with purchasing processes
- Experience in the manufacture of raw RF cable or cable assemblies
- Basic knowledge using Lean principles and tools
- Exposure to control processes and procedures including Change Management System, Nonconformance Reports, Engineering Specifications, Take time/rate, Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA), and work instructions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to organize design effort, keep orderly documentation and handle multiple tasks, assignments and projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, provide technical insight into problems and deliver effectiveness in completing job assignments
- Exposure to using Six Sigma and/or other problem-solving methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to self-direct work with very little supervision.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with RF/microwave coaxial components helpful
