The NEDCON team is currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our new production plant in Shelbyville KY for first shift operations. This is an exciting opportunity to help expand our production in the USA.
What you'll be doing:
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide hands-on process engineering support on the production floor a minimum 50% of time. Develop, improve and implement manufacturing processes required in the manufacture of all products, improving the efficiencies of individual operations and the facility as a whole. Assist tryout and development of associated new tooling projects and develop sustainable, repeatable processes that produce at maximum rates with minimum scrap.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Use engineering principles to provide production operations support with hands on troubleshooting and development.
- Lead process optimization for facility.
- Act as a technical resource for machine capabilities and product limitations on new parts.
- Identify inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement efforts, focusing on cost reduction, productivity enhancement, and waste minimization.
- Maximize operational effectiveness, i.e. bottleneck analysis, set-up time reduction.
- Review tooling, machine, and product drawings with use of 2/3D CAD software.
- Troubleshoot machine and tooling issues for production and product launches.
- Assist Quality Assurance in qualifying gauges and other measuring devices to be used in or on production processes.
- Support production staff to achieve operational goals and foster a culture of excellence.
Skills Needed:
- Knowledge of reading manufacturing drawings, especially the meaning and interpretation of tolerances (both product and tooling drawings).
- Experience with metal-forming processes such as roll forming, progressive stamping, tool tube bending, CNC machining, and/or laser cutting.
- Knowledge or ability to learn how to edit drawings in 2D/3D programs (e.g. modification of profiling rolls and punching tools) (Creo parametric, SW, ACAD).
- Ability to analyze technical issues in production, minor troubleshooting
- Ability to analyze major technical issues in production and describe them in a way that is understandable to ensure external interventions, arranging/assisting external repair interventions.
- A positive relationship with computing and control technology, not a programmer but an advanced user able to understand the cyber-physical context of Nedcon equipment. Profin program for programming punch plans.
- Positive attitude towards robotics and willingness to develop these skills with training.
- A hands-on approach is essential, with ownership of products and processes.
- Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to grasp technical concepts quickly.
- Self-motivated striving to find lean solutions to improvements and issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related technical field of study (Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- MS Office, ACAD, Creo parametric, SW and ability to learn new software, including internal manufacturing software.
