The Manufacturing Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of our manufacturing facility. The incumbent oversees and may coordinate, plan, and direct production processes that are manufactured. They are also responsible for work direction of the supervisors in their work teams to ensure the manufacturing and inspection teams meet or exceed established production schedules and revenue targets. Ensures manufacturing schedules and quality standards are achieved. Facilitates continuous improvement initiatives and promotes a team approach to the improvement of production flow and processing. Develops and maintains a high-performance team.
Responsibilities:
- Leads and manages the manufacturing team to achieve operational KPIs such as: Safety, OTD, COPQ, FPY, DL Utilization and financial targets for all programs.
- Ensures daily production meetings are standardized and functional to ensure daily priorities and tasks are aligned with the master production schedule.
- Ensures team members are all cross-trained and possess the required skills needed to perform designated operations with a high first-pass yield.
- Setting standards to ensure assembly and test processes are executed in accordance with associated documents.
- Develops and maintains a capacity model to allow for the required number of resources and equipment to support production and revenue plans.
- Performs all leadership and management duties related to role, including interviewing, training, developing, performance management, goal setting, feedback, coaching, performance reviews, etc. Develops and leads a high performance and engaged team.
- Develops and implements an effective 3x3 Skills Matrix to eliminate single points of failure.
- Promotes a culture of collaboration, accountability, and positive morale.
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives such as 5s, Kaizens, Root-Cause Analysis and other tasks as part of our Lean Journey.
- Ensures all Health, Safety and Environmental processes are followed. Drives a culture of HSE excellence.
- Perform other duties as required.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment preferred.
- At least five years of management experience required.
- Ability to lead by example the Smiths Values – Customer Focus, Integrity, Passion, Ownership, and Respect.
- Positive, driven, engaging and team-oriented approach.
- Proficiency in ERP systems.
- Lean/ Continuous Improvement/Root Cause Analysis experience required.
- Inventory Management experience may be required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and team building skills required.
- Ability to perform complex problem solving.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Six Sigma of Green Belt trained individuals preferred.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
Education: BA or equivalent experience preferred.
Security: U.S. Person required (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident). May be required to obtain a security clearance.
