Manufacturing Quality Inspector Job Description

The Manufacturing Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring product quality by analyzing technical drawings, conducting inspections, and managing measurement equipment. This role involves collaborating with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues, maintaining compliance with customer specifications, and upholding documentation standards.

Manufacturing Quality Inspector Job Responsibilities

  • Analyze drawings in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Prepare measurement means and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Write dimensional reports for internal and external clients, providing commentary on results.
  • Ensure calibration of measurement equipment and manage subcontractor interventions.
  • Maintain databases and records for calibrations, equipment, and measuring devices.
  • Conduct production inspections and communicate potential issues to the production team.
  • Manage non-conforming materials in the MRB database, logging and removing them from circulation.
  • Assist in First Article Inspections and statistical studies as directed by the Quality Engineer or Quality Manager.
  • Perform sorting activities for non-conforming materials.
  • Enforce compliance with Control Plans and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Collaborate with Production and Toolroom departments to resolve quality-related issues.

Manufacturing Quality Inspector Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in Quality Control, Manufacturing, or a related field .
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of measurement tools and techniques, including millimeters and inches.
  • Familiarity with tight tolerances, down to 0.0001”.
  • Experience in documentation and quality control processes.
  • Ability to manage and maintain calibration records and equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
