Location: Norfolk, VA

Duration: Approximately 6 months

Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of experience, Navy experience .

Schedule: 5 10s, could be more

Pay: DOE

As a Marine Electrician you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on a variety of marine vessels. You will play a critical role in ensuring that all electrical systems on board are functioning safely and efficiently to meet operational requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, navigation, and communication systems on marine vessels.

• Troubleshoot electrical issues and resolve faults with circuits, wiring, motors, and control systems.

• Perform routine inspections of electrical systems to ensure compliance with safety standards.

• Upgrade and modify electrical systems to improve vessel performance and meet new regulations.

• Ensure all electrical systems comply with maritime safety standards and regulatory requirements.

• Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and modifications.

• Respond to emergency electrical failures and provide immediate troubleshooting to minimize downtime.

• Work closely with the maintenance and engineering teams to ensure the seamless operation of all onboard electrical systems.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

 

• Proven experience as a Marine Electrician or in a similar electrical role, preferably in the marine industry.

• Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, including power , lighting, and navigation systems.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams.

• Familiarity with safety regulations in the marine industry (e.g., SOLAS, ABS, USCG).

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Relevant certification in marine electrical systems or electrical engineering (e.g., STCW, NEC).

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

• Willingness to travel and work aboard vessels for extended periods when required.
